The United Way of Central Alabama, the Birmingham Public Library and more than a dozen community partners are collaborating to host this event on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Read and Romp is a free event that exposes the community to organizations that have early childhood literacy and family engagement as priorities. Children will participate in fun, learning-based activities themed around popular children’s books. They will leave the event with goodies, including new books they have either created or earned by completing each activity station.

By associating fun-filled activities with reading, parents will learn ways to engage with their child on the life-long journey of learning, which will help increase their children’s success in school. While centered on books, each activity station will be manned by organizations and businesses that are child-focused, providing families an opportunity to learn about activities that will enhance the development and education of their young children.

Read & Romp will include special appearances by Super Why and the Animal Ambassadors from Birmingham Public Library. The event is being coordinated by Alabama Public Television, Reach Out and Read-Alabama and United Way of Central Alabama/Success By 6. Click here to get an idea of what to expect at Read & Romp: https://video.mpt.tv/video/american-graduate-alabama-alabama-american-graduate-champion-read-romp/
