The award-winning CQ Researcher explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education, and science and technology. There are 44 reports produced each year including four expanded reports.

Did You Know?

People are aware that they can donate money to the Library, but did you know that you can donate your services, too? Volunteers are an essential part of the daily operations at the Birmingham Public Library (BPL). BPL adult and teen volunteers assist with a number of functions throughout the system, most of which are outlined in the Volunteer Handbook. Through the Volunteer Program, BPL strives to meet two goals: identify system-wide opportunities for volunteers to contribute in an ongoing capacity, and to provide volunteers a meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience.

First Annual Whiting Award To Be Presented in Montgomery, September 28

Shortly after coming to the Birmingham Public Library as our first Archivist in 1975, Marvin Whiting was walking down the street one day when he spotted a trash can in an alley with a large roll of maps or architectural drawings sticking out.
