Bard & Brews
is a poetry performance/beer tasting event hosted by the Birmingham Public Library.
It is usually held on the first Friday of each month except December. Slams are held quarterly in January, April, July, and October; the other sessions are open mic. The event is emceed by performance artist and poetry events director Brian "Voice Porter" Hawkins. Live musical performances are held before the poetry performances begin. Craft beer is donated by breweries from around the region.
Eat Drink Read Write
feeds the body, mind, and soul. It engages people in conversations around food and eating. Everyone eats, savors favorite foods, and enjoys food memories. By bringing folks to the table to share a common bond, we foster community in this diverse city and increase awareness of food-related concerns in our region.
Local Authors Expo
is sponsored by the
Friends of the Birmingham Public Library
and provides an opportunity for local authors to sell and autograph
their books. Included will be both adult and juvenile fiction and nonfiction
